Touch panel pricing likely to stabilize in 2014
China touch panel makers are starting to show constraint in expanding production capacity, which is likely to help stabilize pricing for various touch panel products in the second half of 2014, according to anApple Daily report citing J Touch chairman Yeh Yu-chou.
Despite the constraint from China makers, J Touch has plans to expand production capacity for metal mesh touch panels from about 40,000 square meters a month to roughly 120,000 square meters through strategic partnerships that are expected to occur in 2014, the chairman added.
When asked about ITO technology, the chairman said J Touch currently has no plans to expand production.
The report also revealed that smartphone and tablet applications make up about 50% of the company"s production capacity and that J Touch"s main customers are currently Asustek Computer, Acer and Sony.
